Our Rheinriesling is made exclusively from high-quality, well selected purchased grapes! The goal is to keep the typical stone fruit note in the foreground to give the wine a lot of elegance and charm. The harvest graduation is therefore targeted at about 19° KMW to let the wine become very fullbodied!

Depending on the existing grapes our Rheinriesling is not available every year!

Dining companion for: very versatile, to starters, pasta, fish.

General information for the Rheinriesling

The king of white wines was selected and further developed in the course of history from wild vines on the Rhine. In technical terms it is known as White Riesling. Also the term Rheinriesling is widespread, in order to clearly distinguish it from the unrelated Welschriesling. In Austria it mainly matures to absolute world class on the vineyards next to the Danube. In good years and prime locations - particularly in the vineyards of Wachau, Kremtal, Traisental or Kamp, but also Vienna, the Thermenregion and Wagram - the Riesling brings high maturity always equipped with the appropriate acid. On primary rock, he developed a distinctive mineral aroma, reminiscent of slate or flint.

Young Rieslings show charming fruit with elegant stone fruit aromas of peach and apricot, also lemony-fresh and exotic notes. With zesty acidity, the flavor presented racy and stimulating. In the "second life", depending on the vintage a few years after harvest, Rieslings can develop continuously and are very easy to store. Marked by significant maturity, the bouquet often has a certain petrol tone. This can be found especially in the rare Spätlese and Auslese wines.

A small encyclopedia

KMW: Klosterneuburger must scale – With that number the sugar content in the grape juice is indicated in weight percent.

BSA: Malolactic fermentation - by the addition of starter cultures (bacteria), the malic acid, a part of the total acid in wine, is largely reduced to lactic acid and CO2. Thus, the total acidity is reduced, and in addition it gaves the wine richness and complexity.
