The oldest part of our house dates from the middle ages and was often developed starting in 1529.

Already in 1420 the owner Chunrad Schaffer converts it, including the vineyards, into a Barbara monastery. Like the former community restaurant the yields were used for church needs. In the 17th century there was temporarily housed the choir in front of the house. There were also prominent customers like the famous Wallenstein, who bought a load of the best wine here!

Like several other houses in the lane you can see an iron cellar door above the main entrance. These doors are going back to the middle ages and the early modern period where wine was sold exclusively in containers (barrels). For moving those barrels there was an own, non-hazardous occupation the so called barrel extractor – you can see a picture in the wine museum!
